The Draconic Concept
Pynchon Watches
Enters the World of Haute Horlogerie by Developing a New Calibre for The Draconic!
The Origin of the Name
The name is taken from Christopher M Linton's book "Eudoxus to Einstein: a history of mathematical astronomy."
In medieval times, the part of the Moon's orbit south of the ecliptic was known as the 'dragon' (which devoured the Moon during eclipses) and from this we get the terminology 'dragon's head' for the ascending node and 'dragon's tail' for the descending node. The periods between successive nodes has, over time, been termed the draconic month, the words deriving from the Greek for 'dragon'
The Concept!
After two years of successful design and production of a Swiss Made complicated watches, the team at Pynchon Watches decided to enter the world of haute horlogerie by offering new complications, embellished by Pynchon’s philosophy!
Calibre
Engined by an exclusive automatic calibre PY-02, The Draconic will feature complications of 24hours domed northern hemisphere earth which rotates counter-clockwise, and a moon with phases orbit around the earth in a duration of 29.5 days also in counter-clockwise. showcasing the single one day of the moon which takes about a month for the Moon to orbit Earth (27.3 days to complete a revolution, but 29.5 days to change from New Moon to New Moon)
The concept will be encased in two case materials, 904L and Titanium sized 43mm with a black, navy blue geniune leather or full bracelet.
